Safety & Security Seminar Gilbert, AZ

AMH Public Safety & Security Service Group will present a Refuse to be a Victim seminar 4-8 p.m. Jan. 30 at Gilbert Community Church, 44 N. Oak St., Gilbert.

THE WORKSHOP
The workshop is designed for people 13 and older and teaches methods to avoid dangerous situations and prevent criminal confrontations. Topics include personal safety, home and auto safety, travel security and technology security.

SIGNING UP

FOX News: Pastor Sent to Slammer for At-Home Bible Study

A Phoenix pastor who was jailed for holding a Bible study group on his private property is now holding one behind bars.

Michael Salman is serving a 60-day sentence in Maricopa County's notorious Tent City jail for allegedly violating his probation by holding religious services on his property in violation of zoning and building codes. He was arrested July 9, after authorities charged the one-time gang member hosted Bible sessions for as many 80 people on his 4-acre property, which he tried to claim as a tax-exempt church.

Church Institutes New Rules After Volunteer Arrested - Child Molestation

{A few hundred concerned parents gathered Wednesday night after a Valley church youth volunteer was arrested on suspicion of child molestation.

The meeting at Highlands Church in Scottsdale was a way for parents to get details about the accusations directly from the detectives working on the case as well as to ask questions...

Now all volunteers - even parents - will be the subject of background checks. Previously, the church conducted checks only on volunteers who worked with children younger than sixth grade.}

My Thoughts: As you read this article you will notice that the volunteer did not have a prior record. This means that the background check would not have produced a result. Regardless of this, I think that the church is making a good decision to change their policy.
